i having an issue where every time I try to attach pics, no matter what method, I get a message that says "error, image xxxxxxx upload of file failed". I have tried it on 2 different phones and my laptop. I also deleted pics from my phone and re took them. It's weird.

I just updated my truck thread but those pics had been uploaded yesterday. I have tried both uploading like I usually do or using the little picture icon. I can't show a screenshot as everything I try to upload fails.

Seems OK for me, only it loaded as a thumbnail instead of full image

Plot twist, I was able to reduce the size and change to a PNG. I was then able to upload those. I wonder if it's an iphone thing. I tried on two different phones but they are both Apple and have updated in the last 24 hours.

That might be it, I just downloaded a picture compressor app and tried. It worked but I'm not sure what the limit is? I have also had a few things work once but not other times. I'll keep playing with it.

I use this from Microsoft. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/image-resizer

I reached out to David Hodgkins, he is looking into it. Glad it's not just me.

I added .jfif to the accepted file formats. I wasn't aware of this format before, which is a variation of jpg.

testing jfif file format as attachment:227139

EDIT attaching jpg file for reference:

I don't see the attachment, but I see the embedded pic. Do you see the same?

I added a jpg attachment and it shows correctly. I'm not sure how to get the forum software to handle jfif attachments inline, but embedded jfif files are working as intended.

Me too
Tried from my iPhone no luck, tried from my desktop and resized it and not a single image would upload. Tried the other forum, group of pics, no resizing required and uploaded first time (and in the correct orientation)

I had to make sure they were smaller than 2Mb and then it worked.

I use a compression app called "compress photos pro". It can be used for free but comes with ads. I paid $12 and I have it for life with unlimited use. It's great as you select the pics, run the compression then gives you the option of keeping or discarding the original. I get rid of the original. I don't need multiple copy's. They are usually about 1mb now and upload in seconds.

I am thinking the 2mb thing was not strictly enforced until recently. It caused some heartache upfront but now things work better. At least for me.

Not sure how many windows users but there is a free power toys tool called ImageResizer. Just right click and it is an option for an image.

I could turn up the size of pics allowed but I'm worried about the performance of the site.

The truth is I've already come up with a long term solution, which will be implemented soon.

Imagine uploading from any device. File size restrictions dropped, because all file types are converted seamlessly, on the fly. True drag and drop, inline. No more separate image gallery needed. Think Facebook or instagram for ease of use.

This, and many more exciting developments are being tested now.

The future for the forum is very, very bright indeed! It's like going from a MKI 4 link donor build to a MKV with IRS and a supercharged coyote! I'm serious, it's that good.

There will be no other "forum" like it anywhere. Built by builders, for builders.

Please let us know what that will be up and running. I’ve limited posts with pics because of the hassle factor of resizing them

I flew out to Boston and drove to Wareham this week. On Friday I demonstrated my solution for Factory Five employees and yesterday I had a good sit down meeting with Dave Smith and I gave him a demo. To say he was blown away would in fact be a direct quote. Last night Dave threw together a pizza party and I demo'd for a few friends and customers of FFR. They were equally excited to see what's coming.

I anticipate alpha and beta testing to be completed and live within a month from now. In the coming weeks I will be soliciting volunteers from this community as part of that effort.

It's coming soon, and I couldn't be more excited!

Dude, I paid $12 for a compression app. :)

I’m excited for the changes. This place is kinda special, having it be state of the art as well would be amazing.

That's great news David. I am a member of a couple of other forums that are super simple to use. You can virtually copy and paste anything into a post with no stairstepping in between. Most of those sites are owned by the forum conglomerate which is unfortunately but the ease of use is top notch. I am really looking forward to what's coming.
