At last I found the soft top I have been looking for, the Rod Tops one. After seeing a post a few weeks ago here, I learned that Rod Tops was bought by Speed & Design out of Nashville. Gil was great to work with and very communicative. I purchased one of the two new soft tops he had on the shelf on Thursday and it arrived today, Sunday, by Fedex. The top looks great and fresh, the canvas even smells good. I really wanted this design, as I didn’t want to put snaps into the body and definitely like the look when it is on the best.

It sounds like he will be making more of them, he has all the equipment to keep producing them. Now I just have to install it and get ready for the raining Florida summer.

I'm thinking about one of these for my MK3. I'd be interested in seeing some pictures when you get it mounted.

I will definitely post when it is on the car. Will be gone a few weeks now, so probably in April sometime.

I'm sure there will be a lot of folks happy to see them becoming available again. I've had mine since 2013 and have used it extensively. It's a great piece.

Just curious if this top goes on and off easily. And is it small enough to fit into the trunk when collapsed?

It does fit in the trunk. Takes me maybe 10-15 min or so to put it on the car.

I love mine on my Mk3! Thousands of miles on it and it keeps you from getting beat up on along drive! BTW...it's a piece of art!

This new owner reportedly has a backlog of 130 orders. It's gonna' take a while to get caught up... :D

Gil is also still in the process of getting all of the inventory and stuff over to Nashville. I messaged him about a couple of parts to fix the top I have and he was very communicative and helpful.

Gil was great to work with, I know he said he had one more black top in inventory and would probably have more in about 6 months , maybe that is the back log Jeff mentioned. If someone wants one before the summer season, you might want to jump on the one in inventory.

This is all great news! I think I got one of the last ones from the original group. It's good to hear that they're back in gear, so to speak. These soft tops really are good!
