Hi guys,

Well, I swapped out my Wilwood MCs yesterday for the new Tilton units. I remember a few guys had comments/concerns with the swap out, specifically related to adjusting the push rod and installing the MC remote reservoir caps. I think I came up with a solution for both, and I just wanted to share.

First, the push rod. The Wilwood MCs have flats machined into the rod to allow for adjustments once everything is installed, however the Tilton units (at least the 75 series) do not, which can make things a bit of a PITA later on. What I did was install a pair of jam nuts about 3/16" from the end of the thread where it goes into the MC. The jam nut size is M8x1. I locked them against each other and added a little blue Loctite for insurance. I can now easily put a wrench on the push rod and make adjustments as needed. They are forward enough that even at full stroke they don't hit the MC body.

Secondly, the remote reservoir caps. Yes, they are TIGHT! As a matter of fact, the caps are about .012" smaller in diameter than the MC top. I tried an experiment and used my heat gun to warm them up a bit. I didn't overdo it - just got them warm to the touch. Once I did that I lined them up on the MC, gave a little push, and they popped right in place!!! The next two went just as easily, and then I added the clamps to finish the job. I don't know how the heck I would have gotten them on without a little heat, and I wasn't about to break out the mallet ;)

I hope this helps someone else who ran into this ;)

I'm about to do the same swap with 76's. Funny I had the same jam nut epiphany you did! Good to see it works out.
Piece of mind + safety = PRICELESS

I used the heat gun trick on the filler caps also. Makes it a lot easier.
