Almost 30 years after my brother and I were drooling over the possibility of a fox mustang-based cobra build, while sitting in a college dorm room, I finally placed an order. It has been a long wait, but perhaps some blessings in disguise from having to be patient. I'm excited about all of the improvements and possibilities now available with the Mk5 vs the previous generations. I ordered a Mk5 with IRS and outfitted for a 351w based engine pushing power through a TKX. I'm planning a competition style build with black pipes and black rollbar. It will have a hood scoop and just the quick jack bumpers. I cannot wait! I look forward to learning from y'all and sharing my journey.

Congrats! While my MkIV isnt painted yet, Im a fan of black pipes and black rollbar, with just simple quickjacks.

Congratulations and welcome to the fun. There are several Mk5 build progressing on the forum, check them out they are a great resource - EdwardB's Mk5 30th Anniversary Build has been a "Go To" as well as others. Also check out the build school, I took my 2 adult sons who love to wrench on cars - we all enjoyed it and learned a lot

Thanks everyone! Quick question...does anyone know how long lead times are right now? I paid the deposit online. From the time of doing this, how long does it usually take for someone to reach out from Factory Five?

Lead times change all the time, but I placed my order 4/15/2025 for my Coupe and received confirmation the next day via e-mail. I received a large envelope from them a few days later that was postmarked 4/16/2025. After that, I didn't hear from them again until a few weeks before my availability date.

In comparison, I placed my order for the engine package and hadn't heard anything for several days. I e-mailed my previous point of contact for the kit directly and he responded to let me know my order was received and sent me payment information. After paying for the engine, I waited a few more days and after not hearing anything, e-mailed again and was told that he would follow-up to ensure my order was processed. I've not yet received any official information on my order or when it will be available to ship.

I suspect that there is a lot of stuff going on behind the walls in Wareham but have faith that they will come through in time.

Welcome to the machine. (ELP). Savor the journy it will be over before you know it! Take your time and always do it right. Cut no corners. The details matter above all else. When your done you'll know you have the best machine you could build. Please feel free to steal all the great ideas and processes shared here on the fourm. I did! Lots of mods. very few of them my ideas. If your like most of us here the day after you finnish your car you'll be looking for another project build. If your budget allows allways buy the good stuff, you'll be glad you did when its done.
