I am fitting and pre-drilling panels for the upper level trunk area and discovered there are no internal side panels and associated carpeting provided with the complete MK4 kit for this area.
Nor is there carpeting provided for the rear side of the rear cockpit wall.
Only upper level floor carpeting is provided with the complete kit.
What are most folks doing in this area? Painting the existing aluminum or just leave as is?
Is it worth the extra effort to make internal side panels and carpet including the rear cockpit wall or is it mostly not visible once the body is on?
TIA

On my first build I purchased a spare piece of carpet to match and used that. On my second build I had planned on the same but Scott had some leftover he gave me and it was just enough. I also used the left over from the transmission tunnel cover as that was something I didn't use. I tried to buy something "close" but it didn't look right. I recommend getting it from FFR.

I just bought some black automotive carpet at a local fabric store that was close to the kit-supplied stuff and cut pieces to fit into the triangular-shaped area of the upper trunk walls. Slapped it on over some Thermo-Tec. Did the same with the trunk side of the rear cockpit wall. When the body is on, you won't see any of that area, anyway.

I had to get a an extra bit of carpet, I think F5 had a sale on a trunk kit, so I bought that and provided enough extra for the drop trunk and my cubby box. I made a small side panel and added a little carpet then. Hardly visible, back wall was just bed liner paint on the trunk side

I used trunk liner material that worked great.

It was easy to work with and didn't break the bank.

That looks pretty darn good. Where did you find that?

I got it many years ago from a car stereo shop. Just search trunk liner or underfelt on Google or Amazon. Be sure you select a product that is wide enough.

You can buy the carpet from Factory 5. Buy it by the yard, I think the yard was about 6 feet wide by a yard long.
This carpet matched the carpet for a MKI.
