I have an MK5 roadster with blueprint Cobra edition 427 (Holley 870 cfm Carburetor). I am having issues with the air filter fitting under the cowl (air cleaner is two inches high).
I am trying to see if anyone has the same combination and if they are also having issues with the fit.
Thanks.

I have put the body on my MK5, but not with the front hood installed. I didn't officially measure it when it was on, but it looked tight. I have the 427w with a Holley Sniper setup. I do plan to install a hood scoop. Just took the attached picture with the level across the air filter.

Would a drop base air cleaner help?
A lot depends on the "look" you want.

I could not fit the BPE air cleaner as the motor deck is to high. Not sure why they ship with these air cleaners. Drop base K&N fit and I did get an ANSEN that is taller but smaller. I still had to grind down the base of the ANSEN to give clearance to the the hood. With Ansen

Here is the Photo of the K&N-All the air your 427 could ever want!

I'll mention that the skinny air filters are a bit restrictive for a 427. Not sure about the Ansen, I think I calculated it could be a bit restrictive(math could have been fuzzy), but have not tested that theory. Planned to make a couple test runs this summer with the different air cleaners to test that out.

Im not sure what intake that blueprint puts on the 427. I had to use an Edelbrock 2181 to get the clearance I needed and be able to use the Blueprint air cleaner. 226342

It's not a Mk5 issue but rather what happens when the 351 base high deck Windsor block is coupled with a tall intake such as the Edelbrock Air Gap and others. I've encountered it several times and the solution is either a lower intake or to use drop base 14" K&N with an X-Stream top.

Jeff - Are you able to clearance the hood scoop hole to fit or is that not an option? The Victor Jr. intake seems to give the same effect.
I suppose a drop base for the air cleaner and or a shorter filter would work as well.

Using the drop base 14" as I suggested resolved the issue for the ones I've encountered. The oval air filters would contact the hood unless they are skewed to get the front into the scoop opening (and that looks kind of dumb :p).

Use a taller hood scoop?
Shell Valley does make a bigger one that I believe is 2” wider than the FFR scoop. Unfortunately didn’t realize that until after paint. Although with the clearance issues being mostly at the back I'm not sure if would have made a difference due to interference with the hood rib underneath.
