Here are some final pictures of the installation of the early '60s Ford big-block degas tank that I modified for installation on my small block. For those who have been following this project, note the added support tube from one of the water pump bolts to the tank bracket. It just seemed like it had a little more flex to the mount than I was happy with and this firmed it up really nicely. I made the support tube out of a short piece of stainless fuel line by flattening the ends on a press, then bending it to fit. A quick shot of engine paint and it blended right in with the rest of the mod.
After pressure testing the tank and soldering a small pinhole in one of the joints, I cleaned it and painted it with engine/rad paint. There were a couple of small dents that I couldn't get to from the inside, but those disappeared with a little bit of JB Weld stick.
The last picture is a side shot that shows how the tank lines up with the upper 3/4" tubing to give an idea as to how much clearance I have under the hood. The top of the tank falls just behind the hood scoop opening and about 2" below the underside of the hood.
Photos available - PM me.
