View Full Version : Heater hoses?

I installed water pump to add heater later if needed but these hoses look amateur i just plugged them to get things started now i need to clean them up. I'm not sure what to do and keep the option open for later a d clean it up. Any suggestions

NO NO. You need to connect the outlet from the thermostat to the water pump inlet. Plug and cap the lower PW inlet.

To help you visualize what Rich is saying, here is an old picture of my original setup. Have since changed the water neck and replaced the corrugated rad hose. The short hose is called a bypass hose and is from an 87-93 mustang. It allows coolant to circulate inside the engine and components to heat evenly until the operating temp determined by the thermostat is reached. Without it hot spots will form.

I plan on going 16AN fittings for my hoses. Autoplumb or CVF make adapters and fittings to do this. Costly though, but better than the hose clamps. The Gate's power grip shrinkable hose clamps don't look too bad either.

As you can see I'm a big fan of the Powergrip clamps.

I used the hose candy ones. They look just like the ones you used. Much cleaner look than worm clamps.

These may be Rock Auto part numbers but it may help.

Ok I found the right hose today and after some chasing found one close for $12 it's not usually a In stock item but I've got it now.
