View Full Version : Upper Steering Shaft Question

This is more of an opinion seeker than anything. While I was adjusting my upper steering shaft for steering wheel position, it occurred to me a set screw would make a lot of sense down where the solid shaft is inserted into the "D" tube. I double checked my manual and there is no mention of this. I know the solid shaft has the two set screws up at the top and this is probably adequate. I am guessing a lower set screw is not necessary as the upper shaft really has no where to go but I thought I would see if anyone else has either thought about this or actually installed one.

The upper shaft is designed to collapse in an impact. The two set screws on the bearing will keep the shaft at the desired length but still allow it to move into the larger shaft if needed. I wouldn't add any additional set screws.
