Hey everyone.

I'm finally nearing the end of the home projects that have kept me from working on my mk IV for over a year. I recently saw a thread that made me question some life decisions.

Last year, I ordered and received a set of gasn touring sidepipes. I did not order headers. My plan was to use shorty ford headers (bbk 1515) and the ffr J-pipes into the gasn pipes. I made this choice to hopefully bring down the sound levels a db or 2, and also because I like that the oxygen sensor location allows all cylinders to combine well before the sensor for my sniper 2.

According to the sniper 2 docs -

Locate a position for the oxygen sensor as close to the engine as possible. The oxygen sensor should be mounted at a point where it can
read a good average of all the cylinders on one bank. This would be slightly after all the cylinders merge. When using long tube headers,
mount the sensor approximately 1-10” after the collector. Sensor must have at least 18” of exhaust pipe after the sensor.

The jpipe mounts the o2 sensor <12 inches (give or take) from the head and about 8-10 from the header collector.

Has anyone used the jpipes with the gasn side pipes? Is what I have planned going to cause me issues when I get to mounting my exhaust?

thx

M

Because of their adjustability using J-pipes might actually help with getting the usually ill fitting Gas'N pipes to work better. I suggest that you fabricate a forward hanger to supplement the usual side hanger which will keep the J-pipe and front of the side pipe from drooping. Here's how I do them:

It's all just a few bucks worth of hardware store turnbuckles, J hooks, nuts and bolts, a couple short pieces of steel angle and a generic Mustang style double donut rubber tailpipe hanger.

Jeff,

I've been away. Thanks for the info. As far as the interface between the j-pipe and the side pipe, I shouldn't have any issues?

Sidepipe flange interface is the same whether J-pipes or headers.

Hi wantscobra - I have the same setup and it was pretty easy to install. I think it sounds great as well though I've only done a little go-karting. I created hangers as Mr. Kleiner suggests it's pretty straight forward. The angles are pretty much to where I would liked them with the j-pipe, but I am going to add a 1/4" spacer from Breeze to get the pipes more parallel to the body.

I don't think you will be disappointed.
