Is there anything out there other than a prop rod. Wondering about gas cylinder lifting

I have Mc Master Carr lifts on mine . Look on the old forum I posted the part numbers and photos last year. Its real easy to do. Much to my suprise you need a set that are rated 50 lbs or more.

Does your kit fit the MKIV? Only MK2 or 3 are mentioned on your website.

I can attest to the quality of Mike's kit. I just finished mounting mine and it works like a charm. Just be sure you have a right angle drill adapter as there isn't much room between the trunk floor and the rear body hoop to which the brackets are installed.
Now I no longer need worry about accidently knocking out the old piece of broom handle I used before and having the trunk lid come down on my head.

I have Mikes kit on my MKIII as well. Of course one other option to the gas struts is the original style lid stay which a couple guys have used and is pretty cool looking.

Mine has the hidden Mk 4 hinges and it is very easy to do. You guys with the older chrome on the body hinges have more to do to make it work.
