Hi all,
Late last year I purchased the Forma Electric Windows Kit after seeing it in action on another coupe. I also purchased their overhead console and third brake light kits as well.
Some folks expressed interest in seeing more on this kit so I uploaded a short video of the install up to this point and I will try to put together a forum post with pictures soon. I really struggle getting the photos to upload consistently directly from my iPhone - I might need to resort to the more time consuming gallery method. Please feel free to share any shortcuts for uploading and embedding full size photos into posts. Anyway, I have the windows installed at this point and I have done basic unit testing of the windows and door actuators. I will knock out the wiring once I have the body off for paint and the finish work (door cards, etc.) will happen once things are back together.

Again, I am expending no effort whatsoever on video production quality. So be prepared to see some pretty shoddy videography/editing, and to hear the ramblings of a simple hayseed.
I welcome any feedback and I hope these videos will help others.

Tim - thanks for putting this out there. I just watched your video and informational quality is great. As a side note, I know there is a lot of conversation about posting pictures and frankly it's not nearly as hard as some people make it. Granted, I have not tried from my iPhone but what I do is take my pictures, they upload automatically to Google photos which you have on your computer if you use the Chrome browser. I go into Google photos on my browser, click on the photos I want and I save them to my build library on my PC. I use this both as a historical repository and for uploading. Once they are there then I upload directly to my thread through the process of click on the icon, find the photo, upload, then double click on thumbnail and resize. Personally, I wish they would meld the F5 forum with the other forum as that platform is on a modern design and you can copy and paste anything directly into a thread but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon.
Anyhow, thanks for the info on the windows. I just got off the phone with Chris from Forma and had a great conversation, very nice guy. All this info is helping me make a good decision on what direction I want to go.

Thank you for the great video.
I received my Forma windows kit a few weeks ago and was pretty overwhelmed by the quantity of parts, so it is nice to see how those come together.

Thanks as well for this video - very helpful
Thanks for posting that Tim! It was also very helpful for me but in a different way.
I spoke w/ Chris at Forma Cars and he was willing to sell the kit at a discount without a few parts so I could modify it as a manually operated window.
After seeing your video, I've decided to go back to the original plan of just starting from scratch and create our own version. We'll have to invest a lot more time, but we're in no rush and I love a good engineering challenge.

Thanks for posting this! I have a set of the windows on order, and this helps a lot with what to expect from an install perspective. What, if anything, are you planning to do about the front edge of the door once everything is completed? I'm thinking there has to be something that could be done to provide a finished look to the front of the door.

Dave,
I am not sure what you are referring to when you mention the front edge. There will be a piece of rubber belt-line molding along the full outside edge of the door. Anyway, if that is not what you are referring to please let me know and I will let you know my thoughts!

Hey Tim,
I am basically following the same process. I have found the upload process to be finicky - Seems I only get once chance to upload the photos, and it only works about 2/3rd of the time. Once it fails, I am forced to abandon the post and restart it. On top of that I am limited to five photos. It's frustrating, but obviously I work through it. Despite my frustration, I will work through it! But it would be nice to have more modern functionality available.
More importantly, I think you will be happy with the windows if you go that route. I hope my videos and eventual post will be helpful in planning your build. Next up is an update with the chassis electrical installed.
All the best,
Tim

I've made another update to you YouTube body work playlist and added a video covering the Forma Cars power windows electrical system. My apologies for the crude video quality - My focus is on sharing information and I'm not really applying much effort to recording, editing, etc.

I did not notice while recording the video, but when I triggered one door to open it was also triggering the other door simultaneously. After troubleshooting for a spell, I got to the bottom of the issue. Seems the signal was back feeding through a common lighting circuit and causing the other door to open. I ended up adding a diode to each of these lighting trigger wires and the problem was solved. I spoke with Forma on the matter and they indicated this was not normal behavior and were looking into it. As always, they have always been super responsive anytime I have needed them.
Whatever the case, it is behind me now.
