Well I finally got around to mounting the body this week. Now of course the head scratching began!

1) So I can't seem to get the body "forward" enough. The body is tight against the rear walls at horizontal rear deck, and I'm guessing I could still come forward as much as 1" in order to get the body over the rear cockpit wall. I'm guessing I need to trim the walls/rear deck area in order to move it forward? I'm also thinking/reading that others have trimmed the lip at that location so that the overhang is "less". How much is usually removed there? To get everything forward enough, I'm guessing that trimming of the body at the dash area might also come into play. How much material have others removed there?

Anyone have what they think is the best thread or tutorial on body mounting, doors/hood/trunk etc? I'm definitely a visual learner, so pics and/or video greatly help! I don't wanna have to bother poor JeffK with 1000 e-mails!

Thanks!
Rian

Trim the dash cowl about 1/4”. I didn’t need to trim any off the rear. You want the body just in front of the door strikers about 1/4”-1/2” for a MK4

Good advice I'm going to be putting the body on this week so all the advice is certainly welcome.

I trimmed both the dash and rear flange leaving only 1/4" lip. That allowed me to stab the rear door lip 3/16" to 1/4" in front of the welded on striker plate. On the wheel lips I did the same, removed 1/4" all around, maybe a bit more at the bottoms.
On the rear deck lid seal lip I cut about 1/4" to 3/8" off all the way around and ended up building half of that back, so take off 1/8" at a time and sneak up on it or you'll make my mistake.
A mini air saw from H.F ($40) worked wonders for this.
