Hi all!

So I'm nearing the point of needing to mount the body (for the first through 5th times! lol)

I'm lucky enough to have a 2 post lift in my shop, and I'm thinking of using it to mount the body - ie hanging the body from straps attached to the lift, and lowering it onto the car. Anyone else done it this way? Pics or Video? Suggestions on how to mount it are greatly appreciated!

i made a 1 person body lift with kayak pullies , this may give you some ideas

used wrist lifting hooks to grab the body at the wheel wells

You certainly could, or even just use some ratchet straps on hooks in your joists, but it might take more time to rig it up than if you just got a neighbor/family member or two to help you. It's a 10-minute job to drop it on with a couple of helpers.

Rian,
First of all I owe you a call which I'll do when I finish typing...

A lift which simply goes straight up and down won't be ideal. To put the body on the nose has to be down and then after getting it over the frame extensions for the bumper mounts it has to come rearward before the tail can be lowered further.

Here's the sequence:

Take note of the PVC pipe guides that Jeff uses.

I used Jeffs strap idea but used PVC pipe on the body lip. 10" long 1.5" thin wall PVC plumbing with a Slit so C-shaped. Pipe hangs on the lower body lip at about firewall. Slip on table saw. Either way will work, choose your method to protect the body as it passes over the door hinge area. I have a 2 post lift but did not feel like the lift arms were high enough for body to hang above the chassis. Used J hooks in the wheel wells for strap support.
