Hey all - getting real close to a first body fit test on my MK5 build
Can the side exhaust be on for this? I had FFR do the cut outs for the body

No.

As Paul said, no. But to expand on this...(at least on my MkIV), the FFR sidepipe cutouts are apparently cut by a blind person, because they are in no way accurate enough to drop the body on.

Have you passed go-cart phase? I plan to leave the pipes on for this step and then remove for test fitting body.

In theory, since the rocker panels on the Mk5 body do not wrap under the chassis you actually could put it on with the side pipes installed if the positioning and shape of the cutouts were dead nuts on---but they won't be! ;)

Thanks all - follow up question: since I really would rather separate the exhaust at the four bolt flange instead of the ball joint, anyone happen to have the p/n for the gasket at the flange? or is just a standard collector flange?

Throw it in the trash, use copper based RTV

I've used these and had good luck. I just don't like the mess and cleanup of RTV.
