Side pipe questions

I'm going through the inventory of my recently delivered kit, and got to the exhaust and something doesn't look right to me. The side pipes look great, but not sure what the little connector pipe is ? It doesn't look like it is made for these side pipes.

They may be in another box. Keep a running list of missing parts and if you don't find them, call FFR. You can also look down your inventory list and see if they are listed and what box they're in.

Understood, but the question is, do i have an incorrect part ? That little pipe doesn't look like its for that side pipe. I've got both side pipes, and the mounting hardware, and then two of those j shaped pipes. There is nothing else exhaust related in my inventory list. I opted out of the FFR headers, and plan on going with GasN

I wonder if because you opted out the FF headers that by default you got the J-pipes? As you noted they won't work with your side pipes, but if you had the shorty headers then the J-pipes would come into play (with another piece I believe to interface between the J-pipes and the four-into-one collector).

Okay, now that makes sense. Those j pipes are for an OEM 302 header.
So i just need to communicate that back FF , and ask for a different collector ?

I also might be confused, i was expecting a collector type assembly like the coupes have, that goes between the header and the side pipe, and has a ball socket flange which makes adjusting the side pipe angle easy.

The side pipes are the same whether using that J pipe setup or a long tube header setup. The collector assembly and ball socket portion you're looking for is on the long tube headers. Like the pictures here: https://factoryfiveparts.com/16757-302-headers/?searchid=375286&search_query=headers

That's a J pipe which is included if you don't buy headers from FFR. You'll only get a "collector" with their long tube headers. When you finally get the Gas'N headers they will have everything needed to connect to the side pipes. Thew J pipes will be unused.
