View Full Version : Question - Gas Pedal space and DS foot box mods for Coyote or modular setup

I have installed the Coyote and working on the wiring however I have some questions re gas pedal space that I have been meaning to post for some time.

After installing the Wilwood pedals, mounting the gas pedal for the Coyote and footbox aluminium, it seems to be a little tight for the gas pedal and foot-box aluminium vs my shoe – just over 4 inches (possibly 4.5 inches) for the gas pedal (space between brake pedal and aluminum without carpet). I have located the brake pedal on the pedal arm to the furthest location away from the gas pedal to maximize the space for the gas pedal. Still not much space for the average shoe.
Q: Does this seem to be the proper amount of space for this set-up?

Q. Are there any mods to the gas pedal side aluminum or pedal box setup that are recommended or have been completed to accommodate more space for the gas pedal for this setup (Coyote or modular engine). I have seen other posts on this forum related to foot box mods but they appear to be for a 302 setup. I am waiting on the headers for the Coyote (ffr timing tbd??) before any mods will be made to the aluminium but I wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has already tackled this and come up with a solution or something different to increase the the space for the gas pedal other than racing shoes.

BTY - making great progress with my build - shoud be a gocart sometime in the spring (waiting on headers - timing dependant on ffr)

Feedback appreciated

Thx

I moved both the brake and clutch pedal pads to the right hand holes, which moves the pads about 3/4" left. Then, I made a cutout in the aluminum next to the gas pedal. It's about 6" high and maybe 8 " long and it kicks out about 1.5". It almost touches the header. The extra 2" really opened things up down there.

Great suggestions - Thx

I am waiting on headers before I do any mods to the FB aluminium but I will definately move the pedals as you suggest (I did not know this was possible).

Is it possible to post a picture or 2 re the FB mods and the pedal positions (pictures speak volumes) - I know taking good photos of the FB can be a challenge

Q - did you also cut out the clutch side as well for additional rool for your left foot?

I appreciate the help and suggestions

Thx

I just re-read the reply to my post and the limited space is after both the Clutch and Brake pedal pads are moved to the rt hand holes to gain the 3/4 inch you mentioned - already done (I thought there may be a way to move the pedal locations within the pedal box- guess not)

I guess I am left with modifying the FB aluminium.

Thx
