Hello all,
After about 4 months of VERY little progress due to family time and trips to Turkey and the southern US, I'm FINALLY getting some time to work on the car!
I Finally got my roll bar parts welded up, and I'm drilling them to hard mount to the frame. The front upright pieces are straight forward, but the rear angled piece is a question mark. the interior tube slides down over the mounting point in the frame, so I'm sure I need to drill a hole and mount it at that point, (location 1 in the photo) but do we need to drill it in the middle where the interior tube slides into the roll bar itself? (location 1 in the photo) If so, it seems REALLY close to where the body is going to be..... any input or experience here would be very helpful.
Also, I don't recall getting any mounting hardware with these from Breeze (or if I did, it's long gone...). What type/size bolt should be used?

Yup, I seen that vid. Unfortunately it's from 13 years ago, and the kit is built differently now due to the large diameter bar. Also, he still never describes how to bolt it in....

I used the Breeze bars as well. When I first set them up I drilled the top hole of the slider section and ended up not using it, as you said " it would interfer with the body". I decided to use 2 each 5/16 high carbon steel internal wrenching bolts installed from the bottom (approx 5-O-Clock looking forward) angled up and outward. I drilled those holes in the outer tube and de-burred. Then I installed everything and marked the two holes for the top. I removed everything then drilled the inner slider tube upper holes but only though one side (bottom inner). I bought two 5/16 NC coupling nuts and ground them down so they would fit inside the inner tube. Then I welded them in place. Cleaned everything up then re-installed to ensure a good fit. Then I drilled the lower hole through the slider tube and bottom stud. Removed and de-burr. The two bolts secure the upper tube and slider. I used carbon steel close tolerence pip pins on all three attach points for ease of maintenance and removal, but regular bolts will do. Repeat for the other roll bar.
In the first pic below you can see the unused hole I drilled first. (dont do that!)
Hope this helps.

I've used Breeze bars on several cars. They can be a little fiddly to set up but really do look good for a non-track car. The upper bolt to secure the inner sliding tube will have to be located with the body on. I do them horizontally side to side just below the rear deck. As for the lower end of the rear leg---with it welded to the main hoop when you instal the bar assembly it all drops straight down vertically. I make a plumb cut on the end of the rear leg so that the cutout doesn't have to be any larger than necessary for clearance on the bottom side. This photo isn't of a Breeze bar, just a 1 1/2" section that I use for mock up but it will do for illustration purposes. The area marked in black is what gets cut off. As you can see without that portion cut off the body cut out will have to be made larger with the end result being that the trim rings won't cover. Trust me on this!

Thanks for the input guys!
Jeff, I shot you an email as well, but I'm now wondering if I already have a little problem. I had FFR pre drill the holes, so the drivers side roll bar holes are already there.... Will they be in the wrong places for the breeze roll bar? (Passenger side has no holes yet)
Also still wondering what type and size of bolt to use in mounting?
Would grade 8, 7\16ths SS bolts be fine?

The holes won't necessarily be in the "wrong" place but they will need to have some work done; since the Breeze bars are 1 3/4" rather than 1 1/2" they will obviously be too small (they are actually cut somewhat undersized even for the FFR bars). As I mentioned above you have to be careful when massaging the holes for the rear leg; easy to end up with a hole too big for the trim to cover. For the bolts, 7/16" is overkill. I don't like SS for an application such as this and use cad or zinc plated 5/16" grade 5.
Kind of on the subject of roll bar holes in the body---since we lost Russ and now that Mike Everson is no longer making parts I don't know where you'll have to get the trim rings/grommets if you don't already have them.

Thanks Jeff, knowing that, I'm now really happy I bought them all from Everson about a year ago!
