I got the factory 5 power steering kit and it came in for my mark IV roadster. It has this bracket in the bag of parts with no part number on it and it does not show up anywhere in the instructions. It obviously goes to the through bolt that mounts it to the chassis. But I'm not sure this is actually even used? Potentially for a truck or a coupe?
I also got the breeze offset rack mounting kit. Looks like there's a pretty good write-up on how to do this with the breeze parts. Any final words of wisdom beyond that?

It's intended for roadsters and Coupes. There were a very small number of instances reported of the rack fracturing at the RH side mount so this was added as a safety retrofit to keep it in position should that happen.

If using the Breeze offset mounting kit you will probably need some additional spacer washers in the front and rear mounting holes. I also needed to grind the inside of the safety strap at the top and rear sides.

Thank you for this post and for the answers! I was wondering the same thing and figured I just hadn't gotten to the step yet. Looks like I'll be unbolting a connection and fixing that... after painting the bracket.

What an I looking at here? Wow, Is this the broken mount Jeff spoke about. Any suggestions / recommendations on spacers or should I just water jet some out? Maybe an Amazon item?

Yes it is. The weld between the passenger side mounting boss and steering rack tube apparently let loose on some prior steering racks. At least that's how it was explained to me when I questioned FFR on the need for the safety strap. I don't have any more details. I just used some hardened flat washers from the local big box store as additional spacers but test fit first. You may not need them.

I see now. My kit came with 5i February 2024, did not know they updated. Thanks!
Looks like I'll be double checking the new one vs the paper copy going forward.

I would have loved to have gotten the nice bound paper copy. Paid $10 for a downloaded copy 6 years ago. Now I got to download the most recent one for free and just printed out the portions I needed.
