I never liked the looks of the bolts on the stock scoop so we made one molded into the hood. It really was not that difficult and I really like how it turned out. Please check out the video, let me know what you think, and please like and subscribe.

FYI, the hood is not centered on the body so placing the scoop centered on the hood rather than the centerline of the body can mean that if you’re doing stripes you may have to do some gymnastics to make them appear straight and centered. I always determine the actual body center before placing the scoop.

Thanks Jeff. I thought about that but thought the scoop would be more noticeably off on the hood. Easier to see. I hope I don't get bit on the stripes but if I do I will let you all know.
I have a MKIV, typically how far off are they?

We took the gel-coat down until we could see the fiberglass. More importantly the JB's job was to hold it in place so we could fiberglass it from the bottom.

Never measured...This photo shows how the hood is off center with the front skewed to the left (and also illustrates how the headlights are crosseyed and the radiator opening is crooked).

Here's one of mine with the scoop placed on the body centerline. In the big picture your eye doesn't see that the scoop is not on the hood center, only that the stripes are straight and equidistant from the scoop.

When you get to the rear you'll find that the license plate lamp "hump" is also off center on the trunk lid. ;)

So I took two 6' levels and set them up so they where straight up and down on each side of the car and measured the car to be 61" exactly at the spot I picked. I put the hood in place with a center mark on the scoop and my measurement was within plus or minus 1/16th of an inch. Did I measure wrong or did I just get lucky?

....and how do I work around the hump on the trunk?

IIRC, the hole for the trunk latch is a bit off center compared to the bump for the license plate light. I think Jeff shifts the stripe ever so slightly, hidden by the license plate.
