I'm think of building another roadster. My question is do CATS make a noticeable difference in lowering the sound volume or is negated by the road and other noise. On my previous build I had a coyote and Gasn touring pipes. I don't need CATS to become road legal so purely an interest in sound reduction.
Thanks

Installed CATS on my car last year for registration requirements in a new province and there was no noticeable change in the sound. I have the FFR stainless steel side pipes that I added augers to in an attempt to make them more quiet.

After about 500 miles the fuel smell with no cats started bugging me. I welded these 200 cell bullet cats from PLM right into the J-pipe. No fuel smell now, quieter at idle and cruise, but no difference when on throttle, makes some awesome crackles and pops sound on downshifts and deceleration.

This was my experience as well. I had cats on a 306 and a Coyote. Real quiet at idle but full throttle still pretty loud. I find the real benefit being the smell. The snap and pop on downshift is nice.
