After 15 years of thinking about building a FFR my Type 65 has arrived and the build is kicking off. Complete with the inventory and while I have several key suspension items on BO for the most part the inventory within the boxes is complete and accurate.

I have extended travel starting end of the week so I am trying to get organized and knock out a couple of items before I leave.

One issue with the packing is the wrong rear IRS bushings - I received the correct ones for the front but the back ones are an offset version #1417 vs 2123 that I am supposed to have. Looks like a mispick in the packing process.

I have been reading the forum for years and the information and support from the group is incredible and one of the key reasons I chose a FFR.

With that said, I am confused by one item from both the manual and the forum.

I purchased the FFR power steering system and have the rack installed in the frame. I have read the manual at least 10 times and still cant figure this out.

The rack received is 48.75" end to end on the shafts. I need a rough 53.0675" setting end to end on center of tie rod ends. It take 45 turns in on each tie rod end to get to the ~53" suggested initial setting. At that point I will have limited additional adjustment inward when finalizing the alignment.

The manual has a section regarding inner steering rod extensions. Indicating they are not for the FFR power steering unit. I am not an expert but it does not appear the extensions are installed on this unit nor does the manual show removing them for getting to the correct width. I pulled back the boots to check and I see the connectors but I dont see an extender?

Options.
I am ok with limited additional inward alignment setting?
I can cut off the shafts .75" each side
The shaft to steering connector is actually the extension?

Thanks in advance for all of the support and patience.

I had the same issue with my rack; ended up cutting about 1/2" on both sides.
Picked up my 65 anniversary coupe middle of August this year

Congratulations on your kit delivery and upcoming build. The PS rack from Factory Five already has the proper width. The extensions talked about in the manual are used for standard width racks. Not the one FF supplies. You don't need to do anything with that. You may need to cut some length off the tie rods to get to the required length and proper thread engagement. But I'm personally very conservative about cutting things. My advice is to get the whole suspension installed and in the ball park with alignment before cutting anything. Easy enough to do later. You may find it's not necessary. Agreed the build manual can get confusing. Parts can have a number of sources, e.g. donor, your local parts store, FF, etc.
