Question for the BC'ers in the forums. Do you need to have Daytime Running Lights to pass inspection and get your VIN. I know they have been mandatory in Canada since 1990. But as these are replicas, do they get a pass?

The BC MVAR states https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/loo92/loo92/26_58_01Daytime running lamps
4.08A motor vehicle may be equipped with daytime running lamps, mounted on the front of the vehicle at a height of not less than 30 cm and not more than 2.11 m, that comply with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (Canada).
[en. B.C. Reg. 476/98, s. 2.]

They get a pass and I didn't need them but your luck will depend on the inspectors knowledge and what they are willing to sign off on which varies (one shop told me I wouldn't pass without airbags). In 2016, I contacted CVSE directly regarding side lights/reflectors, DRL and reverse lights and they referenced the below notice:

Thanks AC65, this gives me some hope, but as you say it depends on the inspector. I am waiting for the delivery of my MK5 (mid-end of January) and Completion Kit, and continue to do research.
