Hi,

So I am tinkering away lately on the car. Working around backorder items, which is actually pretty good, as it lets me look forward a bit more. Many good build threads going on out there also!

Questions:
1. Has anyone considered relocating the MK5 battery to the rear of the car? If so locations? It seems like it may be better for weight distribution. Not that I am using it much more than a cruiser, but it seems like it would make more sense.
2. I want to avoid as many holes as I can in the driver panel. I know obviously the have the steering shaft, and I am running a manual clutch- which I may change if I hate it. Brake and resevoir lines -- is it possible to route them more around to avoid more holes, or is it just a rather unavoidable cut that needs to be done?

thanks
JB

The car is already heavier in the rear than the front, a rear battery is just more issues

hi,

I was not aware of that, I did just do a search on the forums and did see this (not sure if its mk4/5 and which engine)

Weight: 2,250 lbs.
Weight Distribution F/R: 46.9/53.1 (percent)
Wheelbase: 90 inches
Overall Length: 158 inches
Front Track: 58.5 inches
Rear Track: 58.5 inches

The extra weight in the rear might enhance traction which is severely limited in these cars.
With some planning the battery may be used as ballast to compensate with corner balancing.
The selected battery - weight and size considerations - may determine the location planning.
