Fuel Guage

I have been trying to set up my fuel gauge the mechanical way. I go through the button sequences and the indicator needle goes to 1/4 full. I continue the button sequences to save the setting. As soon as I do that and cycle the ignition the fuel gauge pops back to full. I think I only have 5 or 6 gals. in the tank and the fuel sending unit is reading 45 ohms. Any suggestions on getting it to work probably. We have the FF vintage gauges.

With the 16-158 Ohm sender, you want to use the 7/8 full setting for the gauge.

When the gauge reads 7/8, press and hold the button to save that setting.
