I don't know if you've considered this, but i was in a similar position (needing alignment). Initially, I knew very little about alignment. (I had major handling problems.) I wasn't really comfortable going to a mainstream alignment shop and I decided to educate myself on alignment theory. It basically boils down to camber, caster, and tow-in. I bought the alignment equipment (turn plates and a good camber/caster gauge) and read up on the subject and did my own alignment. I was also able to make changes and observe the differences in different settings....and decide what settings worked best for me. The alignment tools cost me about $200 and I can now check my alignment periodically if I feel the need. I took my time and enjoyed the process.

I did my best with some tools I purchased. I figured I wanted to have a pro do the first one and check all my work. They have agreed to go over everything and make sure everything is properly installed and torqued. Looking for a little peace of mind.

Henry and I purchased a Gyraline (https://gyraline.com/products/the-case?tw_source=google&tw_adid=733192527490&tw_campaign=22247205592&tw_kwdid=kwd-2088460164383&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22247205592&gbraid=0AAAAA9-yhqQK_3n6iMJtcKefvagte2sGq&gclid=Cj0KCQiAuvTJBhCwARIsAL6DemgDJQO7PBUfFylf5sHZ VdLDuPwg72dRGf6XE3RbBcWL72XoMgj-Y64aAvZGEALw_wcB).
It's not as quick to do an alignment as advertised but while a bit tedious to setup, it's accurate. Henry did a four wheel alignment on his IRS Cobra and I'm going to give it a go on my IRS 289 FIA.
I may double check my work with the shop Jeff listed, Ernie Bello Motorsport.

They are closed for the holiday. I have an appointment after the new year. I figured I’d try to get it close so I can drive it a bit. I’m using the string method. When I adjust the front toe by adjusting the tie rods, one side changes when I adjust the other. Is that normal? So adjust each side as I check the other? Thanks…

The two sides are connected so of course a change to one tie rod will affect the other side as well. If you're trying to maintain your steering wheel center you'll need to change both sides. Conversely, if you have the toe set but the wheel is off center you will have to shorten one side and lengthen the other by equal amounts to get the wheel centered without changing the total toe. It's all a process...a change to caster or camber will affect the other and a change to either will have an effect on toe. Set caster and camber then do toe last because it has no effect on them.
