Hi guys,

I must be losing it, but I can't recall who offers a drop trunk floor kit for the Mark 4. Could someone please remind me and/or recommend one you liked? Thanks!

Is Mountain Metalworks actually responding and filling orders? They seem to have had some issues in the past.

Well, that's a good question. I reached out to them via their email address when I ordered mine two years ago, and they were very responsive. I haven't had any interaction with them since.

I reached out to them no less than 7 or 8 times to obtain a turn signal with no results. That was late last year, early this year. I finally gave up.

I have the original (Russ Thompson’s - dropped trunk kit and removable steering wheel) too - {RIP Russ!} And though I believe Mountain Metal took over his deliverables, I thought there was a post quite a while ago where it sounded as they were exiting the vendor role for these parts?

Anyway, if I was to do it again, I would chose to go with i.e 427’s (Frank’s) parts! Not only does he have many different custom add-on’s for various improvements, he is reliable, dedicated and even has videos out on YT as well. You can’t go wrong with his solid solutions. Happy building…

Thanks guys! And I do have some .062 aluminum laying around so I might look into making my own too ;)

We've made a drop box for the Roadster going all the way back to the Mk2. We even have a few videos on our channel where we walk you through measuring for one to make it yourself. Aluminum in .062 is going to be a bit thick to work with for a drop box but I would guess it could be done provided you have the proper tools to bend it. In the end, if it all goes to poop, you could order one from us. We can be reached at: i.e.427garage@gmail.com Fabrication is usually a few days and shipping would be what it is.

I made my own as well. I incorperated the battery rack into the drop trunk mods.

I had a little trouble with TJ responding to my initial inquiry, but it all worked out in the end.

Very nice. It definitely put another idea in my head though. I'm building a 289 car - with my fuel filler not in the way I wonder if I can put a battery box in the passenger side rear fender like what you did on the DS. Oh, and BTW - what is the box you installed between the rollbars???

Unfortunately, the fuel tank and filler takes up the space. Left side battery installation only. The box between the roll bars is a cubby accessable from the cockpit. It houses a light, USB port, and the intakes for my footbox blowers.
