Is this wire needed? If so, what does it do? Just seeing a lot of different answers from my research.

It is not. I cut and tape it back. Dont know what it does but 5 Coyotes later and no issues. You only need 3 wires out of that plug as well. In fact I eliminate the plug and solder the 3 wires to the harness.

The one circled in red. Its connected to pin 4 which is says it is SIGRTN.
