At the risk of committing heresy - Has anyone tried to fit power windows to the new Mk 5 doors, or any of the older series of doors? It seems that retrofitting the lift mechanism from a donor car with tracks and glass made to order could work.

I guess you're not familiar with these cars... The doors are only about 1 1/2" thick and that thickness is not in line with the windshield post.

Thank you Jeff. You are right, I am not familiar with these cars. At least not the doors!

I was assured when I bought my MK5 kit that a hardtop and soft top option would be made available for the car and that both options would have integrated side windows.
Without side windows, the heat and A/C options they sell (and I bought) would not make any sense.
I was told that the hardtop option (shown at Sema) would be available late 2025 and the soft top option in "spring" of 2026.

Those wouldn't be roll up windows... more like you manually snap or zipper them in. Possibly on a hard top you could have fold down windows. Not sure I'd want a window above my head ready to fall down during times I'd drive with windows open tho.
