I left behind an IR 7.5, 80-gal, 2-stage compressor in my shop when I sold my place.
I'm trying to keep my expense down on the compressor otherwise I might as well pay
some one to paint. Due to budget reasons I have selected the compressor below and I
would like to get your feedback on it. If I can go smaller please suggest a size. I'm partial
to IR since my last one ran great for 12 years with no issues but I'm open to others mfg.

[B]IR, Model SS4L5, 5-HP, Twin Cylinder, 135 PSI, 60 Gal, 14.5 cfm @90 psi & 16 cfm @40 psi

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not a painter, but I did purchase an IR 5hp 80 gal 2-stage compressor about a year ago and have been happy with it. I recently started a frame off restoration of a 1961 Land Rover Series 2A and have been doing a lot of sand blasting with it. It is quieter than I expected and easily keeps up with my hungry blast cabinet. I did add a magnetic switch as that is the weak point of the compressor. It looks like it is similarly priced to the 60 gal you mention. I bought it on sale from Tractor Supply - https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/ingersoll-rand-80-gallon-5-hp-reciprocating-air-compressor-3496129?crmid=7558708572&utm_source=google&utm_medium=pmax&utm_campaign=tsc0_tsc_tsc_gtm_search_sch_us_cvr&utm_content=sku_na&adtype=pla&campaignid=21140651701&device=c&product_channel=local&product_id=3496129&store_code=1446&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21137144858&gclid=CjwKCAiAraXJBhBJEiwAjz7MZcw_OoNBukFNWEiV1Avl i2y-2vq4_Bhbx8rLwns0uXZBnCaK83pKqRoC-7sQAvD_BwE

Hey James,
Thank you for your reply. I guess my main concern would be the single stage pump in lieu of 2-stage with a fast enough recovery time. So happens Tractor Supply has some Black Friday prices that are actually pretty good. Thanks again for your input. Much appreciated.

Jeff,
Thanks for replying, I value your opinion. I just
want to buy once and the single stage had me concerned.
Thanks again.
