I bought a new Ford 8.8 rear and had it shortened to Fox width. The axles are not installed in the diferential yet. (I wanted to prep and paint the rear first.) Is it better to wait to install the axles until I get my brakes with my kit so I can install the brake brackets first?

The brackets go behind the axle faces, so that sounds like a plan if you don't want to do work twice.

Thanks Joe!

Good thing I was going to let the paint dry for a while before I installed the axles.

I painted everything including the brake bracket mounts on the end of the tubes. Will the paint cause a problem later when I bolt on the brackets? Should I sand the outside of the mounts back to bare medal before mounting the brake brackets? Just thinking out loud here.....will heat and vibration from the calibers eventually wear the paint between the bracket and tube mount possibly causing the brake mounts to loosen? Or am I over thinking this?

A coat of paint shouldn't be an issue.
