I decided to buy one of the Moroso 63761 coolant expansion tanks for the 2024+ Mustang S650 to see if I could adapt it to my Coupe build. After playing around with some possible placement options, I think it will definitely be doable in the Coupe with a couple of relatively basic fabricated brackets. Here are some pictures with the tank in the general area I'm thinking of placing it.

In this location, all the connection ports are easily accessed. The fill cap (not included with the tank) is easily accessed, even with the limited space provided by the upper radiator duct panel. I'm using Brent's engine bay panels, so I'll need to either switch from rivets to screws or create an access hole in the panel. Since the tank has a sight glass, I'll only need to access the cap to add fluid.

The angled bracket on the "back" of the tank is in good alignment with the chassis tube, so it will be a very simple bracket for that. The "front" bracket looks like I could make something that would come up off the control arm plate and tie into the tank's mounting bracket.

Interesting timing. I was just looking at that tank today. Seeing if it would fit in my Mk5 build. Unfortunately not. But looks like a good option for the Coupe which has a couple more inches of clearance in front of the engine. Nice!

I guess I still need to see if the upper radiator hose can be worked in with the tank in this location, but there are ways to deal with that, too.

I made a custom tank for this area on mine. I plan on cutting the fill neck off of the FFR provided tank and welding it to the custom one. You could do the same on this Dave if you have someone that can do some fab work for you. Then it will match the other reservoir caps. I also have the single reservoir bezels for this purpose.

That tank looks good in there. It's a nice piece.

Brent,

I considered using the FFR tank with your bezel, but wanted to try to maintain the Coyote OE cooling configuration and sealed system. If this tank location doesn't pan out, I may go back to the FFR configuration.

You would still use the new tank but would have to modify it by removing the fill neck on it, cut off the top section of the FFR tank for the threads and cap, and that would have to be tig welded to the top of this tank. I do plan on sealing the cap.

The Moroso tank filler has a small hole on the inside with a tube running to the bottom of the tank that I assume is how the tank releases excess pressure. I think I'll use it as built. For my MK4, I found a cap for my Boig filler that matched the FFR caps. I've seen similar for the 2024+ Mustang that might work on this tank. I may just make a circle access in the rail cover that I can remove to get to the cap.
