All,
Please let me know what I am doing wrong with this mk4 emergency brake install. Following the manual, it seems the lines run under the brace, before the tunnel and linking to the brake handle. I didn't like it running directly on the metal and against the sharp edge of the plate that holds the ends of the brake cable sleeve, so I put a protective hard plastic to prevent it cutting and rubbing the cable. Its an inch short and using the a ratchet strap to pull forward I'm still a little short and the emergency brake is engaged. Thinking running the cable over the brace would be to close to the trans once installed. Any suggestions on what I an doing incorrectly.

a lot of folks (myself included) use a pulley wheel to make the bend.

Same here, I put a pulley above the 4" tube. To make it work I extended the lever that drops down from the E brake handle aboutb2 inches.

Thanks. I like the idea of going to one cable before hooking up to the handle

Thanks for the posts here, that gives me some good ideas. Any opportunity to use McMaster-Carr!

One other option is to use a Mustang donor e-brake. I've got two Mustang donor parts on my build because they work great: a 1998 e-brake and a 1995 pedal box to facilitate vacuum assist power brakes. A note if you choose to use the SN95 e-brake: My build has IRS, so I purchased SN95 (1994-1998) Mustang e-brake cables in lieu of the kit-supplied cables.

I've attached a pulley, 2 actually to better take out the slack in the cable, however I am still probably 1/2" long. Any suggestions on the best way to solve?

Did you install the bracket/clamp to hook up the 2 cables to the one? If so, where did you get it and how did you install to ensure things would hold? Thanks.
