Hi All - Ive been putting a lot more time in to the coupe build the last few weeks and Im getting dangerously close to first start of my Gen4x engine. Trying to think a couple steps ahead I need to decide which aluminum panels I still need to get powder coated. I already had all the engine compartment panels done. Im not planning to do the floor of the interior or trans tunnel because they will be covered by carpet or upholstery and basically impossible to see from underneath. I haven't spent any time around finished coupes so what isn't clear to me is if any of the trunk panels or the panels behind the seats would be visible in a finished car. Any input is appreciated!

Just for fun here is a picture of my nearly complete engine compartment. I still need to finish up the coolant system, power steering connections, and HVAC. Im also waiting on Gen4 headers from Factory Five, they were kind enough to exchange the Gen3 headers that shipped with the kit.

if you put carpet in only the under hood and wheel well aluminum is visible. In the rear the wheel well aluminum is visible but not like the front when the hood is open. I did not coat the rear wheel well aluminum on mine and it is really not that noticeable when the car is on the ground.
Yours looks really good by the way.

I'll answer this question the way I always do when this question comes up. It depends on what you consider "visible." Since the complete cowl lifts on the Coupe, everything under there is visible and looks like you have that covered. Nice BTW. I personally consider everything that's not covered with carpet or whatever as visible. And that includes underneath. But sounds like you don't. That's of course your choice. The main thing you're going to want to look at are the rear wheel wells. A number of panels are visible there. Also you'll want to look at the front and rear splash guards. If you completely carpet the hatch area, nothing shows there. Hope that helps.

I can't help you with your question, but your engine compartment looks super clean. Nice work. I hope mine looks half as nice when I'm done murdering my build. What color is the powder coating on those panels?
