Hope everyone is well. This is my first post so be nice. My MK5 should be arriving in the next few weeks and I am looking for a source for a drive shaft safety loop. Engine will be 427 from Blueprint engines and TKX transmission. If anyone has a source please share it with me. Thank you

I don’t have an MK5 yet but I’m pretty sure it’s built into the chassis.

I've often thought about this: Making a "safety strap, meaning something made out of webbing.....

I've been studying my Mk5 chassis. It has two frame diagonals on each side around the area of the driveshaft. I've put driveshaft safety loops in all of my builds. Even though my driving is relatively low stress mainly street cruising. But I'm thinking I'm not going to add one to my Mk5. Going to take something probably custom to fit and not sure it's needed given what's already there.

My bigger concern was the clutch and pressure plate, I was very happy when my Blueprint 427 arrived I noticed that they included a steel Holly bellhousing. Have you seen how small the driveshafts are, I wonder if you even need a safety loop? Once again I have an MK4 so it may be a little different.

That sounds like a bad idea. Webbing and something rotating don't mix well.

Metco Motorsports did a good one for the MKIV. There are several different ones on Summit racing. IK am sure one of those would work if needed. All are solid steel BTW.

Possibly. But that was part of my thought process. I did some rigging work in my younger days....there is some thick extremely strong webbing, strong enough to lift a fully loaded tractor trailer off the ground. As far as a rotating driveshaft wearing thru the webbing, how long will the driveshaft
spin after breaking? Maybe 30 seconds? A chain below the driveshaft would also work (and sound like hell). Or how about a steel cable?

Being that the couple and the Mk5 are pretty similar, I wonder if this one would work ?
