FYI, registration is now open for the track time at the SAAC event at WGI this summer. It will sell out quickly so act fast if you are interested. We'll be splitting the day with SVRA, HPDE in the AM and SVRA in the PM. HPDE will have 3 different classes and we'll get four 20 minute sessions per day on Thursday & Friday. It's about $300 per day and you can run one or both days.
You can also enter you car into the show. My understanding is that this is the first year that SAAC has offered a replica category.
Here's the link to register...hope to see you there! http://174.121.170.163/saac_37/registration.a5w

Felt a bit lonely as the only Coupe at SAAC-37 but I found plenty of Ford brethren to hang out with. Got in some decent laps despite the traffic jams due to limited passing areas...
SAAC-37 Advanced Group 3rd Run Friday 06-08-12.mov - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEVVp8Zdb3s)
Footage from the third session from the SAAC-37 advanced run group Friday 06/08/12. Traffic was good and bad in this session because it allowed my FFR Coupe and a beautiful ERA GT-40 to get together on track, but held us back from turning some great laps together. I met up with the owner of the GT-40 in the pits afterward and found out that while I was experimenting with 3.08s and running 3rd/4th gear, the GT-40 was running 4.55s and working 3rd through 5th. Unfortunately I didn't get video from the 4th and final session but we got in some great laps nose to tail and got down into the 2:14s. Not our best times ever but it was exciting for the fans to see the Coupe and GT-40 at WOT down the front straight!

Dan,
I noticed that you kept a tighter line in the course than the red GT40 or at least, it appeared that way to me. Is that just the way yours is setup, typical for the coupe, or was that just a perspective thing and you were on the same line? What's the hp comparison between the two cars? Thanks, WEK.

Dan,
Thanks for sharing the video. Last summer I had fun in the NASA HPDE-1, chasing a red GT-40 around Road Atlanta. He had more hp so could pull away on the long back straight but I would generally outcorner him. Then he figured out the correct line and I was toast! Gorgeous car, that GT-40

Awesome footage Dan!
I love that your camera angle has both you, the view ahead and the rear view all perfectly in focus. The telemetry is also a nice touch.
They have a pretty varied field there at SAAC. Looks like you had lots of fun.

Glad you guys enjoyed. Looking forward to having more of you guys out there with me.
WEK, power was pretty comparable in the low 500HP range but he runs at higher revs vs my lower torque. I am thinking the sweet spot gearing for me might be right in between 3.27 and 3.08 I am running now. He said he was running 4.55s and said he had 175 top end...I haven't run the math yet but I dont know if that's possible. In general he was turning in later and running a wider line...it's personal preference/feel but I have to imagine that he could handle fine and shave a bunch of time by tightening up his lineand turning in earlier. He did say that his brakes were on the limit so perhaps that fade was sending his deeper than he would have wanted. Due to the heavy traffic I ran some weird lines to make sure I got past traffic where we could (3 passing spots), backing off and then diving in very tight up inside the sole of the boot for example. Too much traffic but overall real good fun.
