Hello all,

This is my first FFR build but I have restored, built and or modded plenty over the years 70 Torino, 66 T-bird, 73 Maverick, 87 Mustang, and 85 Suburban.

I have always wanted to build a cobra but being 6'2" I was concerned about being cramped. A group of us drive our cars 3-4 hours to some of the bigger shows and didn't want to be miserable and hate driving it so I went with the truck. Shipping is expected to pick up Nov. 14-17 and delivered a few days later. I do have a headstart. I pulled the ford performance boss block 347ci I built for my mustang and will use that in the truck and sold the roller foxbody to my nephew. I will be using a megasquirt ECU and a TKO600 trans. I picked up a nice 2013 rear and re-geared it to 3:55. I ordered wheels and tires and am going for a more traditional look but modern is other ways. I will post up some pictures soon.

I will also be posting on IG at @kens_f5_truck_build

Lets see if this works.

Here are some pictures of gear I have waiting for my truck to arrive. Everything here is ready to go and engine and trans were pulled from my foxbody to use on this project. Hoping for Cunningham to pick up the 14-17. Will be calling today for an update.

Looking great Ken. before you set your motor in the chassis, check your accessory drive. The tensioner on the passenger side gave me fits. Yours is very similar to mine.

Is I attempted to install the engine, I had chassis interference.

1) the small diagonal brace at the front of the engine bay is exactly where the tensioner sat. You can see the leather glove protecting the chassis where the tensioner hits. I

I talked to the tech at FFR about deleting the brace or gusseting a corner brace. They said do not remove the brace, but if I felt comfortable with the build I could make a gusseted corner brace.

The gusset is fully boxed in and is the same top and bottom. I added a gusset to the driver's side just for looks.

2) The second was my large Melling oil pan contacted the x member only on the drivers side, so I hade to triangulate some molly tubing to work around that large pan. Yours may not interfere. You can just see it in the last picture. The 1 inch molly was tube was welded laterally in front of the oil pan and another welded front to back to tie back into the x brace.

3) Was the oil filter; a small oil filter will fit, if using the electric power steering, but I opted for a larger filter and a 90 degree adapter.

PM me if you have any questions

I was wondering about the tensioner! I figured worse case I could remove and tension manually, not ideal with serpentine but we shall see. This is a stock foxbody pan so hopefully no interference.
Thanks for the insight

Hello!! Truck arrived at about 830am this morning without incident. I will get some pics posted when I get them on my laptop.

Some questions
I opened the first few boxes and inventoried them. Is it normal to have items in the box that they show not in the box?
No certificate of origin that I could find in the envelope, not sure if that's mailed or?
After full inventory do I need to notify FFR of my findings if nothing is missing?
Some notable backorder items, spindles and foam board for the floor and some A/C components.

I plan to flip it on its side and get the bottom panels on first, so I don't have to drill holes on my back.

Thanks for all the help

The COA always comes later along with the name plate. All back order items will be on the front of your inventory. Go through box by box anything missing from that box will have a circle instead of a checkmark. Double check anything missing in the box is also on your POL list (first page). Any missing boxes you will have labels for in your envelope as well. Any items missing from your boxes that you can't find and are not on your POL, you can email FFR and they will send them out. They say 45 days but they usually won't argue with you if you discover something later.

Congratulations and welcome aboard! Reach out anytime if you have any questions.

I had one item in my boxes that FFR said was on POL, but was in fact in the box. (Half Moon weatherstrip)

I have no POL list. I can't find it in my inventory. I only have 2 labels for 2 boxes for the spindles and brakes. I have inventoried a few boxes and so far and everything thats on the inventory with a 0 is in the box. I'll probably spend some time this weekend to inventory everything.

Still need to post some pics but I am moving along pretty good. Rear suspension is all done, front is done except for spindles and brakes. Brake lines partially ran. Steering linkage in. Firewall in. Floor pan in. I'm kinda jumping around till my BO items arrive. FFR told me no POL list is provided anymore. Hopefully the BO items arrive sooner than later, spindles, brakes, A/C unit and chassis harness are the major items

Welcome to the party! There are too many places to post your progress and questions.
- these build threads are typically the most thorough discussions and tell a story.
- Facebook seems to be picking up more of the new builders. But the discussions are narrow and don’t have much context.
- I’ve not looked at instagram for FFR stuff
- There are a few Reddit areas.

It’s been interesting to see the change from when I built my 33 Hot Rod a few years ago (most all info was on forums). Now I’m getting going on my Truck, it’s all over the place.

I also like the forums as a history for me to refer to!
Good luck with the build.

You are right. I used to do all kinds of stuff on forums. I think it's the simplicity of places like IG but forums are way better way of getting answers on stuff you get stuck on and much easier to search.

Ken- can you give some details on your wheel/tire package? Planning my truck build, and I'd like something similar to replicate a vintage hot rod. Thanks!

Sure I'll get you the info. I will say it is tight on the read calipers. I had to clean up the welds on the wheels a little bit and use a small spacer.

Hello all!! I'm still here. I still struggle to get pics up on here, but I hear there's a solution coming.. Anyway, I'm moving along great. Almost all electrical except gauges is done. Its drivable and all lights work. I am just starting the doors. I have done everything I can to avoid that, but I am now at a point i have to face this lol. I did get the grill shroud fitted and some bodywork roughed in on that so it fits well. I still have a goal to make it to Good Guys Columbus. We shall see. We have been going forever and i still have my c20 suburban i can take just in case. I told my buddy I'll take this in primer if that's where I'm at on it. Great show if anyone is in the area, we drive a few hours and stay the weekend.
