I'm trying to get info on the LM1 air/fuel meter. They originally came with a Bosch LSU 4,2 sensor. Specifically, I'd like to know if I can upgrade to a Bosch LSU 4.9 sensor. I called the Innovate's tech line. The technician was polite but seemed uninterested in helping me. He told me that the LM1 meter was before the company was bought by the present ownership and so he couldn't advise me on anything concerning the LM1 meter.
.
I'm pretty at this wide-band air/fuel meter stuff. I DO know that the sensors do not last forever. I've also read that the LSU 4.9 sensor is an improvement on the LSU 4.2 sensor. I'm looking for input and advice here. Thanks

I've been using the LM1 on my dyno for over 20 years. Still works good. Yes you can only use the 4.2 with it. Good news is they are the least expensive. They are plenty fast and accurate for the casual user, like most of us. I also use the LM2/3 for multiple channels on the dyno. I Use an NTK sensor on my Roadster with Holley EFI. Crazy expensive but much better than the Bosch units. There was an episode of Engine Masters where they compared half dozen of the gauges that are available. Results were they all read virtually the same.

Just an update to this thread. I called Innovate with questions about the LM-1. He was polite, but indifferent. He said the LM-1 was designed and sold under "the old ownership" and that manuals or tech support could not be provided for the LM-1. I waited a day and then called back, hoping to talk to a different individual. (A favorite tactic of mine when I don't get good service.) I did get someone different...but got the same response. The second guy went on to talk about the LM-2, I had the impression they just wanted to sell me something. Well, I AM going to buy something (I lean toward a set-up with a dash gauge) but I won't buy one from Innovate when I do.
