That pesky small oil leak has been time consuming at best but has finally shown its ugly head. After cleaning wiping checking valve covers and putting new gaskets on it still leaked under acceleration. So I built a literal diaper around the area where I thought the leak was coming from. No oil leak above header pipes. So I did the same diaper thing under the headers and around sparkplugs and that pesky oil leak is a failed head gasket right behind #8 cylinder right where the oil returns to the pan. This has be that way from the first start. After it cooled down completely today (cold) I checked the coolant and when I opened it up it sprayed out like a can of soda due to the dissolved exhaust gases), and that opening the coolant reservoir results in a fountain, even if the engine is much colder than the boiling point. Again, due to the gases (especially CO2) partially dissolved in coolant, like soda water.
This I think confirms my diagnosis that it's the head gasket failure. So I've called my engine builder he is coming up next Saturday to see first hand and work out how to proceed since he is based 70 miles away. I'm super glad he is very receptive of my phone calls and wants to make it right. I guess s#$% happens and we move on.

Based on your description, it does indeed sound like a failed head gasket, and you're blowing compression into the water jacket. Been there, done that. Sucks, but not the end of the world. At least winter is coming, so the driving season is about over.
