View Full Version : Is that hole supposed to be there, left side of Coyote?

Hi
I'm not sure if I searched right but I couldn't find an answer, so a question I'm sure has been asked before.
I am doing the wires on my Mk4 with Coyote. Was threading the alternator wire through and I noticed this "hole" which gazes at the flywheel on the left side of the Coyote. It seems to be in one of the manual photos and then it isn't......

In the middle of the night, I remembered this plug thing which I always assumed was something to do with the fuel cap system :p

Can someone confirm that I'm supposed to put that plug in that hole? It seems to be pretty poor quality rubber and I'm not sure it will actually stay there. And there's nothing in my manuals that say anything about it.
Any tips also before I push the whole thing too far through into the bell house and can't get the blasted thing back out again.......
Thanks in advance
JP

Just looking up that Ford part number and it sure does look like it covers that hole. https://parts.southlakeford.com/p/Ford__F-150/Cover-CYLINDER-BLOCK-OPENING/141408023/F3LY-6C070-A.html?srsltid=AfmBOooYDzy1dcHwpp0qD4kEm9qlkXNrWCz Q_QmUWxnBuUTSRKDrVz9s

That's the one. Goes there and I haven't had any issues with it staying there. Multiple seasons with two different Coyote builds.

Thanks very much for your prompt answers. Very helpful as always. Yes it fits.
I’m getting to the end of the build so I’ve worked most of these things out, but looking back I have struggled a little with the lack of instructions coordination between what are Ford Coyote parts and things to do vs factoryfive parts and things to do.

The other one is lack of pictures how people have finished their hydraulic throwout clutches.

If anyone knows of a really good thread that explains either these things, i would greatly appreciate!

That plug doesn't look familiar. Where did you get it?

Hi Keith
It was in the Coyote parts fitment box. No instructions attached. Initially I thought it was part of the fuel cap system.

Interesting! A similar part was not included when I bought the kit and crate motor - back in 2015. I'll have to ask FFR if they have any in stock.

Is the cap needed? I assume it is to keep dust and oil away from the clutch assembly?

Never have had one on mine, now wondering if I need to?

Cheers,

Nige

I have a brand new cover that I am not using. Free, just pay for shipping. DM if interested.
