Daytona fans - am super new to forum, have a 30th Daytona kit coming with CF body. Decided to head toward a restomod look since I won’t be dressed in blue. Anyone know whose car this is or the light maker? Have figured out the front lighting but still tracking for the rear. If you have seen the Top Gear concept article, sort of heading toward that look. Thanks in advance if any input is offered!

Those look like the aftermarket Lotus lights from gregsraceparts.com

That could be it, thanks. Considering Dapper lighting - they make some pretty nice high quality stuff if anyone else is looking for updated 7” headlights, etc.

Definitely grp tail lights. Many Gtm owners use them. I bought a set for my GTM also. Pretty pricey and they are custom made so it takes a couple months.

I like the GRP lights, but find them just a bit too large. Kind of takes over the back end of the car.
Has anyone found similar ring LED tail lights that are a little smaller?
Morimoto sells some halo lights alone without a housing. https://www.morimotohid.com/profile-pivot-dual-red-halos?quantity=1
I'm thinking about those and trying to find a round housing that would work
Edit: the above halo lights aren't bright enough for tail lights. They're meant to be accent lights

I've been searching for an alternative for a while but have come up empty so far. I'll certainly post it here if I stumble across anything.

These are some others, but either too expensive or likely too cheap looking. Or drag to mount. And I suspect, all large;

Seems like 3" to 3.5" would be on the money. I know one builder used Lotus Elise tail lights but I think they are in the 4" range. They do look nice.
I hesitated to mention this, but if we don't find an existing product that looks good with the coupe we may cast our own. It was already somewhere in the plan to cast different turn signal lenses for the front of the car, so why not make the taillights as well?
Among the various skills I've picked up over the years is mold making and resin casting. We'd need to buy a pressure pot but that's not a very big investment. If these come out looking decent, and there's extra resin someone could have the additional sets for the low low price of "pay it forward". Not looking to make any money on this, but happy to share.
That being said, I wouldn't wait around for us to create something because:
1) Despite my skills it may still look like a kindergartner made it.
2) Who knows when this will actually happen. Could be a couple years.
None of that helps the original poster of the thread but maybe it will inspire someone else to give it a try!

Astrong1631,
That's my Performance Blue Gen3 Type-65 Coupe with the larger diameter and Frenched/recessed LED taillights.

Check out the FFR Forum Photo album of mine that has a number of photos of any of my actually built Custom Features Explained, including this custom rear cove design and how I constructed it.

I also have a dedicated Instagram site, D8YTONA_Coupe, for my Type-65/Cobra Daytona Coupe which also included photos of the rear cove customizations.
Feel free to ask any questions about the custom mods.

Your tail lights look sweet. Like how you laid them out too! Sort of freaking out about cutting the carbon fiber too much to mount them vertically though.

Okay guys, I've got a "new" option for you that I don't believe has been done before. I was waiting to have them in hand to verify the quality before posting them on th board.
Took 3 months to get them (long story) but I purchased these halo taillights from CarbonMiata, a retailer focused on custom parts for the Miata community.

My beef with the GRP halos were the large size that takes over the back of the car. Those are 4.75" diameter. These are about an inch smaller, which doesn't sound like much but actually is 38% less surface area. (Also $500 less to purchase)
I was skeptical of the quality at $70 apiece, but they seem to be legit.
If you do end up wanting to buy these, email the owner/operator of the site and they'll sell you them without the housing that is part of the package on the listing I posted above

They have integral lights in the middle that can be either back-up or turn signals.
The white LED that came with it was underwhelming, so I got replacements that are much brighter (not as noticeable in these pics as in person). https://www.amazon.com/LASFIT-Upgraded-Brighter-Projector-Replacement/dp/B0CNX1PNFJ?pd_rd_w=GPzbL&content-id=amzn1.sym.148d7a8e-725d-42f4-bb41-3dffb915d3a9&pf_rd_p=148d7a8e-725d-42f4-bb41-3dffb915d3a9&pf_rd_r=8ADV2YTB87HSZHT1T76D&pd_rd_wg=bxjp6&pd_rd_r=4b3f8efa-a352-4e93-95be-f470ddae7e2e&pd_rd_i=B0CNX1PNFJ&psc=1&ref_=pd_basp_m_rpt_ba_s_2_sc

There is also a function to use the actual ring LED as the turn signal.
Th halos are dual brightness (brake and driving lights). Both are very bright. The brakes are almost blindingly bright.
They come with LED drivers/wiring harnesses
I am going to ghost the center lens darker so it blends in
They have mounting studs so I'll figure out some way to mount them. Will need to be recessed slightly . I don't know if I'll do the whole fiberglass "tub" thing. Probably just cut a close fitting hole and make a thin bezel on Send-Cut-Send or 3D printer.
You might tell I'm pretty excited about these. I think they're exactly what I was looking for
