MK5 kit, with a blueprint 347 and the poly mounts. The engine has a double hump oil pan and I would like to go to something with more sump (maybe, but not critical) and a spot for oil temp. Anyone already have something tried and tested?
(I tried forum several searches, and came up empty handed - it has to be the DAU...LOL)

I have the MOROSO FRONT SUMP STREET/STRIP OIL PAN #20507. I have this on my mk4. I don't have oil temp but they can very in location near the oil filter housing or the oil cooler, often in the engine block's oil pan hope this helps.

I bought a Champ oil pan (https://www.champpans.com/products/p/cp302lt-rr/), associated oil pickup, and dipstick/dipstick tube from Gordon Levy. Great price, and I had a fun adventure installing it ('cuz I'm a noob and had never done this job before): https://www.ffcars.com/threads/john’s-excellent-oil-pan-adventure.637338/

Just look at Kevco Racing. Good pans at a good price.

A quick caveat on Aviaid. I'm not sure if there is new ownership over there but I've had a terrible time with them on my oil pan purchase.

My original purchase (I purchased the 6.5" pan) took forever. Apparently the order is supposed to take place via email and not in their online portal (which apparently isn't suppose to exist anymore despite the fact that it does). So my order got mishandled. Mind you I entered my credit card information into this defunct shopping cart portal so I have no idea where that ended up. Then remedying the situation took forever as nobody would follow-up or call back - to the tune of the entire situation taking months for my pan to arrive after the original order.

No problem I told myself, this will be a premium product given the price point and reputation on the forums. Nope, the pan I received had two holes in it due to faulty welds and wouldn't actually hold oil. Unfortunately I didn't catch this in time so I had already ripped my old oil pan off and was now pot-committed. I called Aviaid but, again, had some difficulty getting ahold of anybody. Since my purchase they had hired some foreign answering service so getting people on the phone was difficult. In the end, I do have to give Aviaid credit, they said if I could fix the pan to do so and that they would send me a new one. I did end up welding the holes up and it is currently installed and working.

To that end, I was promised the new pan in August - and have still not received it. I text their representative for follow-ups regularly and sometimes get a response, sometimes I don't.

So while my story may just be a one-off (not sure if anybody else has dealt with them lately), I would warn that communication with Aviaid can be difficult. My original order was in March and I'm still dealing with it.

That said, the pan itself looks pretty solid and it if wasn't for the welding mishaps, would likely be a good product.

So, it's a solid oil pan if it would hold oil without leaking? LOL. That's like saying "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

Based on your experience, I don't think I'd personally ever buy one of their products. There's just no reason for craptacular customer service these days, when consumers have so many options.

X2 on Kevko-they make a pan for these roadsters(F901-cobra kit car model 302/351). I had a good experience buying on their website and talking to their tech support, yes a human :)

That's really sad about Aviaid, the pan I got from them is first class and they were very easy to deal with.

I got a kevco road race pan. Fit and build excellent. Just sits above bottom of 4" tubes.

Check out Aviaid.

Update on this. Did a little digging and found out that Aviaid sold out to Ross Performance Parts a company in Australia. Not to be confused with Ross Pistons. They are an Aviaid Dealer. They appear to be a top notch company. The company will keep the location in Chatsworth CA and will also be stocking their parts there. John Schwartz the former owner is staying on in an advisory position. It looks to me that everything is in a transional period.

Appreciate all of the input.
Trying a slightly different approach. Found an oil filter adapter that sandwiches in-between the filter and the block. Similar to some of the designs for an oil cooler, but with only one port. Putting the oil temp sensor in that port.

(honestly, just trying to avoid pulling off the blueprint oil pan and creating the "ever present" SBF oil pan leak...)
