Why is this not a FFR option?

I have a spare complete drivetrain here (with IRS diff) looking for a new home...

Seems like the IRS should be an across the board offering. I didn't even know this was a thing.

I had a similar thought. I doubt it would be that hard. I am guessing it's because the period look of a truck but if your going full beast mode there is no reason not too. Maybe they just don't sell enough of them.

Looking at some build pictures - maybe it's the lack of rear fenders and the vertical bed walls - there's no room for an IRS wheel to arc upwards/inwards...

Not the best picture. But the only one from my build that shows the 3-link setup available for the truck. The bed floor is already pretty high and overall not very deep. It's a little hard to judge because it's hanging at full droop. At ride height, no a lot of space under there. That might be it. Or perhaps it's a financial decision based on the number of units expected to be sold.

Yes, didn't Dave say something in passing about IRS being an upcoming option for the HR truck in one of his recent videos?

We had several conversations about it while at SEMA last week.

He mentioned they built 1 and that the R+D resources were reallocated. He did not say it was coming.

Ok, I'm hopeful.

If a solid axle and diff fit, then an IRS diff/half-shafts should fit.

IRS should have less/little wheel arc compared to a solid axle so my thinking earlier is wrong.

IRS Center section and Spindles work, the spindles are modified but they work. Half Shafts will be too long. Unless they change the Control arms. which I kinda doubt. the Cobra and Daytona coupe are narrower than the mustang and the IRS kit for them comes with the half shafts .

IF they do it at all.

A hot rod truck with IRS would be my next build if they offered it. Just sayin.
