First off, I'm trilled to be back on here with a plan to finally finish my Gen 3 Coupe build. A few years back I was getting close and had the traveling builders helping me get the body mounted and ready to send to paint. Unfortunately, I ran into heart problems, started passing out a lot and was told to hold off on physical activity until they figure it out. Turns out... I just pass out now. That's all they were able to figure out. Whoo!!! During this time I went from feeling good about being close to done with my dream build to feeling increasingly worse about myself and the build which was sitting. However, I've decided to get back on the horse, or snake, or whatever and get this dream of mine finished. Time to move forward again.
I hopefully looking to mark this change of course for the positive with a small build party at my place. I've picked a painter that I am going to be sending the car off but have a few items on my list I want to address first and was hoping for a hand from the community for completing them and some camaraderie. I'd love to hear about and possibly look over your builds so I can dream of them when I wait for my car at the painter. Maybe drink in some advice and get to know a few new people.
Bribes to be offered for your company include the below:
Pizza
Beer and maybe a taste or two of some scotch
Snacks
Wife offered a homemade baked good and she knows what she is about when baking
A captive audience interested in your build stories and about your car with enough knowledge to understand who difficult some of the things you did were.
I also have a over the top driving similar I built you you will all be free to play on. It has a real racing seat, force sensitive pedals, force feedback wheel capable of real race car feedback mounted to a solid metal chassis with 3 screens for 180 degree field of view, with motion at each corner to lift each corner or barking, bumps, curbs etc. I also have seatbelts hooked up to motor that pull you in to simulate g forces when braking or going around a turn. Get a chance to see how different race cars realistically feel at some of your favorite tracks in a safe environment.
My to do list before I send the car for shipping:
Replace leaking radiator and my poorly home made bracket that attached the old leaking radiator to the AC compressor with new. parts on hard.
Drop the fuel tank and flush out the 3 year old fuel that has been setting in there unused. Drain the pipes and then reprime the fuel system.
Add sound/heat peal and stick sound insulation on the roof of the coupe.
Bolt the seats down and attach the bests
Install hood struts.
Oil change
I was thinking of hosting on a Saturday, Maybe November 1st or maybe even the prior weekend. I'm located down in Parker CO by the Bronco training facility. If there is another time that would work better for the community, please let me. It would be great it I could have a little help getting across the finish line at this point and help me turn this back into something I feel excited for instead of depressed about my recent progress.
Thanks for your time everyone. It will be great to connect with some of you again for the first time in years. Hope you are all doing well.
