Ok, just to get caught up with things today I had my tires mounted and are now on, its starting to really look like I may be able to go-kart this in the next couple days.
Still a lot of little things to finish and or tune. It's still running a little Rich the idle is at 950 won't idle below that. Camshaft dictates that so my idle is turned up and I'm in the transfer slot on the 750 brawler so tomorrow I open up the secondarys A bit more so I can close up the primarys and get out of the transfer slot this should lean it up a bit.
I have the timing set at 18° right now after carburetor adjustments I may drop back to 16° it seems to like that but will see after I kart it. I also need to set ride height and pinion angle tomorrow. Oh and install safety harnesses don’t want to get tossed out when I check the brakes ;) more to come in the next few days.

Thanks to all who have helped me get this far. I think I'm heading into the fun part of the build not saying that it hasn't been fun thus far but now all the body work and paint and shiny stuff this is more in my wheel house finish and fit.

AT 18deg initial I'd be checking total timing too.

Yes I'm looking at that also my builder says around 36° total timing. So I'm changing weights and springs today also.

I've got a big healthy cam in my 393 with stacks and it idles at 750 when warm. 18 degrees of initial timing sounds like a lot, I'm running 12 degrees.

Weights & springs? WTH are those for?

As per pertronix distributor information.

Way too complicated for my little brain. I do it this way;)

Ok, I was able to drive it around a bit today tried some different timing settings. First I set it with vacuum gauge highest vac then backed it off 1 1/2" locked it down checked it out with my timing light it's now at 15° it seems to like it there. I did try 12° but it didn't really like that as well so 15° seems to be it's happy place for now. Carburetor is tuned very close sparkplugs look really good after some medium pulls on new engine. Just can't get idle down below 850 it just won't play, now I'm wondering if my tach is functioning right it just seems the engine is running much slower than what it's reading. Other than some minor brake adjustments small oil leak out of valve cover I feel pretty lucky no major problems.
Any advice on the tach would be nice so I can address it.

You disconnected and plugged your vacuum line to the distributor when you set your base timing, right?

Absolutely yes
