I received my base kit # 7565 the 1st week of Aug 2011. Go-kart status in Jan 2012 and I drove the complete car 1st week of Feb. Waiting on Va DMV to assign a VIN. Should be down hill from there with tag and insurance. I rebuilt a 94 302 using an Edlebrock top end kit with advertised HP at 367. Once the 4 barrel opens up and the motor is 'on the cam' it's very scary fast. Suspension etc is donor all the way. Total cost about 28K. Happy retirement to me.
I live in Virginia Beach and plan to auto x with SCCA and TSCC. Hope to see ya'll down the road...............race car tom

Hi Tom,
I wondered how you ripped thru that build so fast. But it sounds like you have lots of race car building experience. And I guess if you can build a ship, a roadster is a peice of cake!! Just out of curiosity: are you going to upgrade as you go such as bigger brakes, etc?

Good luck, WEK.

Thanks JD, It's 2004 GM Indigo Blue with 2002 Honda Accord Satin Silver stripes. I was done by a friend in Grand Bay, Al. If you need a quality paint job let me know and I'll set you up. Cost is very reasonable.

WEK, I've built a few. I'm retired so I had lots of time. Just followed the manual (sometimes) and did one project at a time and next thing I knew I was at the end of the manual. I'm sure the upgrades will come in time but for now it's play time. Since completion I've already installed power steering with a power brake upgrade in the near future.

I, too, retired at 62 (last year) but have been catching up with the endless project lists other than roadster stuff. Now, we are planning to do a first start up tomorrow. If all goes well, the go kart shouldn't take much longer. I have to get this thing on the road before summer. The reason I mentioned the upgrades is that I wasn't sure how well the donor brakes do for track days when you really work them hard. Also, I am happy to hear how awesome the engine performs. I hope I'm able to say that it is scary when you get into the throttle, too. See you later. WEK.

Nice job. Let me know if you have any issues with insurance. I sell Hagerty's and can help you.

Excellent job. You will love autocrossing the FFR. These things aren't always the fastest there especially at SCCA events but they are so much fun it doesn't matter. A small car w/ a nice loud engine and rear drive and an excellent suspension is all I need even if some of the WRXs etc. are faster.
