View Full Version : Optimal Jack Points?
Just looking for recommendations on the best front and back points to use a hydraulic jack and stands for the car. I know this might be a silly question but better safe than sorry on thinking I'm supporting it on the right part of the frame to realize that was the one spot of the frame I shouldn't have used.
I'm assuming the frame directly behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel is the best spot?

I can only laugh at this point.
Purchased the lowest low profile jack I could find...3.3". It would not fit. Front of the car is 3.25" and rear is 2.875", at least where those frame points are in the previous photos. I was going to take off the front wheels of the floor jack to get that maybe .25" lower, but that is presenting some challenges due to the jack design. So my other option is to physically roll the car onto a 2x4 to get the extra height, however the car is not operable right now due to the fuel injectors being removed and needing to replace the after pump fuel filter (which is why I need to jack up the car).

Wow that is really low, I run 3.5 inches and it has bottomed out several times. Those are the jack points I use and a low profile jack just fits.

Ya, I'll be raising it up to 3.5" which means I'll have to do an alignment now too.
If I want to lift both rear tires at the same time, would that cross section be fine to put the jack in? Or is that ill advised? Is there a particular spot that is best to raise both front tires at the same time too? Or should I just focus on raising the car up by those spots in the pictures of my first post one at a time?

I roll the car tires onto a couple of 2x4s with beveled ends to allow a jack under a low car (or my 2-post car lift arms). Every garage / race trailer should have a few 2x4s around for stuff like this.
I had some left over 1" thick wood boards that I was able to roll the car onto to get it high enough to slide the jack under. For some reason I thought this car was going to be a lot harder to roll by hand, but it was quite easy.
