View Full Version : Adding 4-block Fuse Panel ... Preferred Fuse or Circuit Breaker?

My Coupe will have a couple of additional electrical items and I'd like to add a small 4-slot Fuse panel.

My question is what should I do to protect this block? I see either circuit breakers or fuses that offer 100 amp protection. Is one preferred over the other? I'm concerned about using a MgaFuse inside the car, under the dash.

I'm going to make the 4-slot panel a switched 12v block, not that that matters, except that the relay will only be good for about 70 amps.

You may want to consider something like this. Each circuit is essentially fused with relay. Probably overkill for what you are looking to do though with 6 circuits.

Either way, I would go with a circuit breaker that will reset.

Thanks, Tim. I did look at those, but all I need are a couple of keyed power circuits for my gauges, and the Wilwood EPB. I'm also going to have a power distribution bar for battery power. The switched power block will get power from a relay connected to the bus bar and triggered by one of the RF keyed power circuits.

I used two of these in my build (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?48937-Wedel456-s-Build-Thread-Gen3-Coupe-North-Carolina&p=568546&viewfull=1#post568546). They are MUCH larger that what @papa posted; however, they worked out great (especially when you are doing some custom relay things (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?48937-Wedel456-s-Build-Thread-Gen3-Coupe-North-Carolina&p=568546&viewfull=1#post568546))!

Sorry Dave. When I first read your post your link wasn't showing up. Not sure what was going on but if I had seen and clicked on the link would totally get it. With that said, if you want protection between it and switched or unswitched power I would use a circuit breaker, not a fuse.
