Well, my Roadster class is right around the corner - I'll be in Michigan next weekend (10/17-10/19). Is anyone else signed up for the class?

Should be a lot of fun. Any suggestions from prior attendees is greatly appreciated!

I went at the end of September. Great instructors and great class. You'll get folks that have started their build all the way back to considering an order. I took a ton of photos and wrote a ton of notes. I spent some time each evening deciphering my notes. I had some parts/tools ordered before I left the class on Sunday.

It was time/$$$ well spent, for sure. Enjoy!

YES, I’ll be there. I got lucky and snuck in on a last minute cancelation. Otherwise, I was a bit fearful of Midwest Winters during from Iowa and was looking to the Spring.
My MK5 order is in with completion for early November. Perfect timing.

I attended in August and I enjoyed the class a lot.
I took lots of pictures on my cellphone and took notes in my notebook.
I’ve got decent mechanical experience from racing cars and motorcycles so I let a lot of others do the actual wrenching.
We had two families with teenage kids who had almost zero experience.
We encouraged them to get in there and learn and taught them lots of things.

I had Todd and Jim as our instructors.
Great guys and the weather was good so they actually drove both of their cars to class on Sunday so we could check out their builds.

Definitely gives me a little more confidence and knowledge going into my build which should be delivered first part of November.

I've had two trips lined up and my car completion date was moved up so I've had to wait until November when I'll be home.
What engine combo are you going with ?
I decided on the Blueprint 347 over a Coyote.

I'm building a 331 with a TKX :)

Yes my two adults sons and I will be there for the build class, we're really looking forward to it! After the build school we are headed to FFR. Will tour FFR on Tuesday and finalize my Mk5 order.

Nice trip! I visited the factory during the June open house - definitely worth checking it out.

I’ll see you in MI in a few days :D

Well we wrapped up class this afternoon. What a fantastic time! Our instructors Jim and Todd were great, and I gained a lot of insights and recommendations. The chemistry of the class was really good, and we all had a hand in building the car. I didn’t know that the class now uses the Mark 5 roadster, but Jim mentioned that myself and a classmate were the first in months that were building Mark 4 cars. Thankfully most of what we learned applied to our cars, and where there were differences we covered both cars. I highly recommend taking the class if you’re thinking about it!

I went in July with my son and it was a terrific class. We had Scott and Jim as instructors and they were great.
I'd encourage just take a lot of photos and notes, I am getting ready to start my build and the notes I took have been helpful so far.
I put a deposit on my engine and transmission while there, saved some $$.
My only complaint is that it was hard to find a decent breakfast nearby in Flint!

Enjoy!

I did too, I ordered a 347 fuel injected with the mid shift kit and the optional taller overdrive gear at the advice of my friends here on the forum.
I just grabbed a quick breakfast on the way, Jim gave me a recommendation on a place to try for dinner.
I can't remember the name of the place but it was excellent food and service and wasn't far from my hotel.

LOL. What do they do for lunch? Do people pack lunches and bring to the class or do you break and people drive out to get something?

Lunch was provided each day. It was wraps one day, sandwiches the next and pizza one day.
It was from a local place and it was a decent lunch. Pop, water, chips and a cookie too.

Agreed and highly recommended as well! It was a great class, myself and both boys took a lot of pictures, I also had printed out a copy of the build manual and made notes in it as well. Both boys wrench on their trucks, and they both felt the project is easily doable. Monday we travelled to Wareham, Tuesday we toured FFR and I finalized the last details for my kit!
