I have just spent a frustrating afternoon trial fitting a 01 fuel tank. After 3 beers I have assumed that the tank has to have the factory bent flange in the tank strap areas straightened. Then the tank is jacked up until the 3/4 " strap supports hit the tank flange and is supported with the
Ford straps. This allows enough room for the tank fill tube, but the tank seem low. I know it is good to have weight as low as possible, but at this position
the bottom of the tank is level with the bottom of diff. If this is OK please let me know. Thanks.
On my coupe I had to straighten the flange in a couple areas where it mates up and on the ford straps I had to modify one by adding a loop to the passenger rear end where it had used a bolt on the mustang rather than the pin/bolt the FFR uses

mk4? (I'm not sure what an '01 tank looks like (any difference?)
I'd say if the tank straps and fuel cover fit, you are good to go.
There is a clearance issue on the mk4 side 3/4" frame rails with the filler neck.
It is pretty low.
Can you take some pictures to show the fit at the 3/4" tubing with the plastic end caps?

Hi MPTeck, I tried to send some photos but I am a computer dud. I have a Mk 4 and with the tank flange up against the 3/4" tubes and end caps, there is just enough room for the fill tube. The Ford straps still fit. Be sure to put the quick jack bolts in place because there is no access to the holes once the tank is installed.

I just installed my fill tube 2 nights ago, it fits, but it is slightly touching on the 3/4" frame, so I'll probably add some kind of rubber insulator to prevent rubbing.
Good point on the quick jack bolts, I wanted to remount my tank (to add spacers/nuts to the front strap bolts), so I'll tackle this then.
I need to find that post on the QJ Bolts mod.
